Welcome to City University Publishing Resource (CUPR)

City University Publishing Resource (CUPR) is a collection of reference materials for students involved in different areas of publishing. The material features web pages about the different publishing processes and also a portal with links to professional bodies associated with all aspects of publishing.

Although the pages will render acceptably on Netscape and other browsers in most cases, viewing on Internet Explorer is recommended. A link to a text-only version of the site is provided in top left corner of all pages.

How to Use this Resource

First select an area of interest from the list running horizontally across the top of the page. Next, select a topic from the list of section topics which appear down the left-hand side of the page.

A glossary of terms section has been incorporated to allow users to look up any unfamiliar words which they encounter in the featured topic text or elsewhere.

The plain text version of the site has section links separated by vertical bars and topic links separated by brackets. The main article follows.

The right-hand column features links to downloadable, printable notes in PDF format. (If you are using your home or work computer and the printable notes do not show, install Acrobat Reader. If you are using a university computer and the printable PDF notes do not show, please contact the computer support help desk or move to another machine which has Acrobat Reader installed.)

Clicking on the City University logo will take you back to the student home page of the City University main website. Clicking on the words ‘Department of Journalism’ will take you to the Department of Journalism home page.
